Are We Really Hurting Ourselves More?

This is a topic of conversation often when reminiscing about the good old days. We got through it without bicycle helmets or all of the protection kids wear today. We made it and we turned out okay, or did we? The question is a good one considering it was just in the news over the last year that head injuries in professional sports may be more dangerous than they thought. If it has taken that long in professional sports to figure it out, did we really get through it all without much damage?

A challenge was given that if you were to spend just one day in a place such as Dwight healthcare you would have no doubt that a helmet is a good thing to wear. The number of injuries would prove to you that such a precaution is necessary according to the challenger. Even though that challenge was never taken, it has come to mind what are the statistics regarding head injuries and other childhood injuries are today compared to thirty or forty years ago.

Would you really find an increase in those injuries at the Southern Will County healthcare or are they just better at keeping statistics today? Did we have the injuries and not know it before the technology was so precise? Was a head injury in the past brushed off as nothing to worry about? Not because the doctors didn't care, they just did not have the technology to look at the injuries they way they can today. With CAT scans and MRI's available at more facilities than ever before you are likely to find a place such as the Monee Illinois healthcare facility and get the kind of care that we could only get at a few if any facilities four decades ago.
